Summary of Upcoming Classes

This page summarizes classes that are eligible toward Level 1 certification and/or the Academy’s continuing education requirement.

The page is updated twice every month, each time giving a “snapshot” of all classes scheduled that day. Accuracy depends on our instructors’ updating the website promptly whenever they change their class schedule. During the Covid-19 pandemic, changes are being made more frequently than in past years. We therefore urge you to check the website often in order to find the most up-to-date information.

This page was last updated on January 10, 2021.

Online classes are listed first, followed by in-person continuing education classes and modules.

The line naming each class or module also indicates:
− the number currently scheduled (if not self-paced and available at any time),
− the prerequisites, shown in parentheses, where (M#) indicates the required module, plus any additional prerequisites,
− the states where at least one class is currently scheduled, listed from soonest to farthest in the future.

Colored links take you to detailed class descriptions for all modules and Focused Studies classes, whether in-person or online. When you click on a link, a .pdf file describing that class will open in another window; the window containing this website page will remain exactly as it is, so you can return to it easily.

Note: In order to attend any class, you must be current with the Academy’s annual fee.

Registering into a class requires two steps: first (a) searching for it on our website (as described below, at “To search…” in the third-to-last paragraph on this page) and then (b) completing an application form (as described in the next-to-last paragraph).

Most of our classes are also recognized by one or more professional boards for their own continuing education requirements, at the rate of eight hours per class day:
• American Occupational Therapy Association (Provider #7074)
• California Board of Registered Nursing (Provider #CEP15344)
• Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine (Provider #PDP-BOW)
• National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (Provider #393313-00).

Specific information about each class is included in the document that appears when you click on its name in the summary list.

Online classes eligible toward Level 1 certification

Beyond completing Modules 1-7 (including their associated logbook and case study requirements) through American Bowen Academy, additional requirements for Level 1 certification can be met through other academic sources. These “non-module” requirements are 120 hours of Anatomy & Physiology, 20 hours of Business Education, current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), 8 hours of Professional Ethics, and 6 hours of Workplace Hygiene, Health, and Safety.

Some of the non-module-related requirements can be met via classes listed above, in the two shortlists under the heading All online classes. Their titles indicate their relevance to the various requirements.

If you have already met any non-module requirements through previous study (e.g., for professional licensure as LMT, PT, OT, ND, MD), you may submit proof of those hours to the Academy toward your Level 1 certification.

How to register for class:

To search for any particular class, select it from the drop-down menu in our Find a Class search tool. (If you wish to limit your search to a particular state, select the state from the pull-down menu. Do not filter further. If more than one such class is available, both or all of them will show up in the search results.)

To register into a specific class, click on either its name in the search results or the REGISTER link next to it, complete the application form that opens, and click on the Register button. The instructor will get back to you quickly.

We encourage you to visit our Find a Class page often, as classes may be added, rescheduled, or deleted at any time.
